feeling overwhelmed by your closet?

I assure you, dressing for your photoshoot is much simpler than what your mind will have you believe!

WEAR SOMETHING *YOU* WOULD WEAR

This is honestly the most important thing to remember.

I want you to wear whatever you are comfortable in!
What you feel good in!
What you feel like YOU in!

WHAT (NOT) TO WEAR

This is more important than stressing over what to wear, in my opinion.
Keep these things in mind:

  • Avoid bright, neon colors that will affect your skin tone (especially on a sunny day)

That being said - I’m not here to tell your daughter she can’t wear her favorite hot pink shirt that she feels her best in. No rules are unbreakable.

I find neutral and earth tones photograph well, and always compliment each other. Blues, dark tones, rich tones, muted tones are generally good as well.

  • Avoid big logos, symbols, or distracting imagery on clothing. Keeping it simple is a good rule of thumb.

THINK COMPLIMENTARY - NOT MATCHING

Pick a couple colors that go well together and have everyone stick within that palette. Not only does this look more natural, but this way everyone can generally find something that works and is already in their closet!

Patterns are always welcome - but make sure if one or two people are patterned that you also have some people in solid colors to balance it out.

WE LOVE A LITTLE MOVEMENT

Adding some action to a photo session is one of my favorite ways of keeping those pictures from looking too posed or stiff!

  • A longer skirt or dress can add just enough motion to keep your photos feeling fun and flowy!
